Reflection

I our class we have been making flags for the Art Exhibition. We first Taped square boxes on our cloth.Then we practised drawing our patterns that we are going to draw in the flag. After that we drew the patterns and dyed our flag. I think my flag turned out pretty cool.
I found this kinda tricky because it was kind of hard to think of ideas of my patterns and what colour I could use to dye my flag.
Next time I think I should make my patterns stand out a bit more and make my colours more effective.

Reading Inferences Activity

Reflection:

In our class we have been learning about inference. We did heaps of activities and looked for clues in a text and guess what is happening in the story and making connections to what you already know and relating what you know in a text and understanding what is happening in the text. 

Over here I did an activity that's about inferences. 

I found this a bit hard because there was some questions that I didn't really understand.

Next time I should read carefully and look for some really good clues that can let me know what is happening. 

Geometry - measuring Angles.

In maths I have been working on Geometry - measuring Angles.

I have done a Hexagon matching puzzle, Name angle measuring art, Protractor golf, and a beginners measuring angles activity.

This is a photo of my name angle art.  For this piece of work I had to write my names using a ruler, and using straight lines.  

Then we had to measure the all the angles in our name using protractors.

I found it easy as soon as I understood how to measure angles using the protractor.

Next I could be a bit more accurate in my measuring.

Simplifying Fractions Puzzle

Reflection:

Our class has been learning about simplifying fractions but to see if we had a better understanding of simplifying fractions we did this puzzle it was so fun!

I found this easy because I found a out pattern and also I had a good understanding with simplifying fractions so that is what made it easier for me to sole the puzzle. 

Show Don't Tell

Reflection:
Our class has been learning about the technique called Show Don't Tell where we use in our writing. It is technique where you don't tell what the feelings but you have to show and describe what was that feeling you had. The reason we did this technique was because it is a good way to get the readers interested in our stories. I found it easy for some of the words I described but I think next I should not use that same describing word for how I felt. So check out my story and see if it's interesting and also try out that technique.

Simplifying Fractions

Reflection:

Our class has been learning about fractions and one of the things we learned about fractions was simplifying fractions so over here we did the activity where I had to simplify fractions  so go and check out this video!

2018 Persuasive Speech Animal Poaching

Reflection:
Our class has been writing a speech. My speech was about why we shouldn't do animal poaching.
We had to give our opinion on what our speech is about and some facts so if I was writing about why we shouldn't do animal poaching I need give my opinion on why and give some facts to it to make it interesting. I found this hard because I couldn't find that much facts to encourage my opinions so next time I should look for keywords in my opinion and find good facts that can be interesting.

Canterbury's Anniversary Day!

Reflection:
Today was Canterbury's Anniversary Day so to celebrate that day I wrote down some facts and put pictures of Canterbury go and check it out and learn cool things about Canterbury!

Kensuke's Kingdom Map

Reflection:
Our class has been reading a novel book called Kensuke's Kingdom, today we have been reading a chapter that Mrs Graham had read to us, in that chapter it was telling what countries Michael ( the character ) went and visited and what parts of the country he went.We had to listen carefully so we know the places he visited while Mrs Graham was reading we were doodling some pictures on the whiteboard and listening we also jotted  down the places he visited down on our whiteboards. After that Mrs Graham took out a map and marked down the places he went. Mrs Graham said that we should also try mark down the places in a slideshow and do an animation map that shows all the places he went and when he did it while we were doing this we also learned about transition ( meaning animating ) and how it works. Understanding Mixed and Improper Fractions

 Reflection:
Monday 17 September 2018
Mrs Graham wanted us to have a good understanding about what fractions are, and especially Mixed and Improper Fractions as you see that every Year 6 student needs to know what Mixed and Improper Fractions are. Mrs Graham teached us all about Fractions but  she wanted to make sure that we actually understood so she told us to explain what Mixed and Improper Fractions and Mrs Graham said that you have to explain that even and Year 4 student should understand so that's what I did.
Something I found that was a bit tricky to explain was. what Mixed fractions are but finally I got through it. What made it easier for me to explain what Mixed fractions are was the pictures I showed that helped me a lot to explain it.
Something I did good was the last slide that was talking about why division with remainders relate to Mixed fractions so check it out!
Next time I want a really really good understanding with Mixed fractions so that I can explain it well.

Welcome to my Year 6 blog. 

My teacher in Year 6 is Mrs Graham.
This year I am in Room 19. 

I am looking forward to swimming and the Mathex.

My goal is to be in Stage 8 for Maths.

Over here I had to write my answer and solve the riddle and it's basically about where you solve riddle can you try solve it? Hope you have a fun time solving this riddle and check out my answer to the riddle.

Kensuke's Kingdom Chapter 2: Water Water Everywhere

Reflection:
 Over here I had to answer some question from a book called Kensuke's Kingdom in Chapter 2. I think I did well on finding the facts for the animal I chose. I am proud about it because I tried my best when I was doing this and I did put a lot of effort. I found some of the question hard because it was hard for me to remember the full chapter of what was happening so I could the questions. My next step is to remember the whole story and add more detail for my answer.

Reading Metric Measures of Length

  Reflection:
Our class learned how to measure accurately and what are the different ways of measuring. So we did this activity to make us m=understand more about it. I found this easy because I've understand really well about measuring. Next time I will need to learn how to measure big things that has a different way of measuring instead of cm and mm.

Comic Con!

Reflection:
Over here Comic Con has been celebrated this month and so I wrote down which one is my favourite character in Comic Con and wrote the reasons why and other stuff so check it out!

The History of Plastic

   Reflection:
Over I had to answer questions about plastic we used a website to give us some information about what was plastic, when it was made,who invented it  and what were different types of plastic.
I found this hard cause we had to look at some information and I wasn't much an internet reader so that's why I found it hard to look for some information but something I found it easy was finding 5 different facts about plastic because our class has been learning some facts and I though  of the ones that our class learned.

Silhouettes

Reflction:

Over here I had to draw stuff into my silhouettes that I like and things about me I found this hard because it was hard to fill up the whole space of my silhouettes next time I need to think of more pictures and make them big enough so I can fit it in the silhouettes.

How to make Biodegradable Plastic

Over here I had to write an explanation about how to make Biodegradable Plastic we had to write steps of how to make the Biodegradable Plastic. This was easy but next time I need to get my ideas a bit more faster and add more detail.

Reflection:
Over here I had to write simple sentences about each picture for we did when we were making Biodegradable Plastic we were doing this so our explanation writing will be easier for us. I found this a bit hard because I was trying to think of ways to explain what we were doing by using technical words ( means using words like "exactly 3 cups of milk") it was a bit hard for me but rest of them was all fine. I think next time I need to be more better with using technical words.

Place Value

Reflection:
Over here I had to answer questions and write things that I know about Place Value. I found this kind of easy because I understand Place Value now and I understood the Place Value rules really well so I am Really confident about it. My next step is to read big numbers really fast and learn more stuff about decimals.

Bridge to Terabithia- Making Comparisons

Over here I had to compare the differences between Lark Creek Elementary and Elm Park School by using a diagram this was a bit tricky but I did good job by finding heeps of infromation.

Balanced Argument - Is Plastic Good or Bad?

Reflection Over here I had to write a Balanced Argument about if plastic was good or bad a balanced argument is where you have to write opinions in the bad side and in the good side and it is basically like people are arguing and convincing if it was good or not so this is what I did over here. I can end my introduction with a question, introduce both opinions and introduce the topic in the introduction. I can take turns for each opinions in each paragraph and use transitional phrases to start the paragraphs. Next time I think I should and more detail to sum up both opinions for the conclusion. This helped me by making me more facts about plastic.

New Zealand Music Month

Reflection:
In May it's where New Zealand celebrates music.
So today I thought I could choose a music from a New Zealander singer and this is from Stan Walker.
I chose this song because it interested me and its describing the galaxy and I love things about space!

 Reflection:
WAL to understand the purpose of characters in the text.
This helps us understand the story because if the characters are different it makes me imagine what it felt like if that had ever happened to me and makes me understand how he felt and what was his personailty and his actions.

Reflection:
 On March the 8th it is International Women's Day in that day we celebrate because all the achievement that women's had done that no one had ever done before to celebrate this I made a slide with achievements that women's had made that no one had ever done before. Enjoy!

Making and Breaking Numbers

Reflection:

We were learning about the different ways to make the number 12.  We were using different equations and we were looking for patterns to help us be successful.   We were learning this to help us learn strategies in the future.  I felt excited and proud about this learning because I was able to find a lot of ideas.  By finding the pattern it was easier to get more ideas.  Next time I could use higher numbers so I can extend my knowledge.

The difference between Implicit and Explicit ( Logic Puzzle )

Reflection
 I was learning about Inference and Implicit also Explicit, Explicit means clues that are obvious it the text and Implicit means clues are hidden in the text. We did  this so we understand what Inferences mean. I felt good about this type of  learning because  it also helps with Math solving problems and reading so I will give this a thumbs up. My Next step is to be a bit faster and understand what's the questions because sometimes I don't remember the Information they given me . I could do a harder one because it was quite easy so I could probably do a way harder problem.

Friendship Day

Reflection
Over here I wrote an acrostic poem about Friendship because on February the 11th was Friendship day.  Friendship day is to hang out with your friends and think about how they mean to us and how we are mean to them. So to celebrate Friendship day  I made an acrostic poem about Friendship I tried hard to make good sentences to match the meaning of Friendship.

Waitangi Day

At 6th of February is Waitangi day it is NZ's national day so, to celebrate Waitangi day we did a word art about NZ and all the things I love about being Kiwi. N🇿🐦
